KAIZER CHIEFS GIGANTIC HEADACHE OF THE SEASON

Date:

AmaKhosi Have Had No Joy in Their Search for a Prolific Goal Poacher Thus Far as The Season Commences.

Kaizer Chiefs has made several changes to the team’s personnel after a dormant 2021/2022 Dstv Premiership season. The Phefeni Glamour boys were the first in starting the big overhaul as they sacked returning coach, Stuart Baxter before the end of the season and followed by the sacking of his son and several backroom key personnel. The AmaKhosi faithful fans and the entire football fraternity waited with belated breaths for more changes and the higher powers at Naturena didn’t disappoint as they announced a series of player releases that included their entire striking force. This series of events followed a week of rather bold statements by then newly appointed Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Junior and he delivered on his words by bringing in more than eight new signings including the “marque” signing, Ashley Du Preez from Stellenbosch FC.

Fast forward to the start of the season, AmaKhosi opened their account with a 1 – 0 loss to Royal AM whom on the day everyone agrees that were not the better team. The Glamour Boys carved many chances but the lack of a prolific goal scorer let them down big time. The following game was much better from the finishing point of view as they beat Maritzburg United three nil however a rude awaking awaited them in the clash against Mamelodi Sundowns as they got a 4 – 0 hammering in front of more than forty thousand fans at Peter Mokaba stadium. Without Du Preez to complete the promising front three, Kaizer Chiefs were thin on attacking options exposing a deeper problem that can hamper their chances of challenging for silver wear yet again.

Head Coach, Arthur Zwane has been quite clear about the type of striker his looking for and the value he must bring to the team. This is after assessing a number of strikers who by the look of things didn’t cut the grade even though it looked as if it was likely for them to rope in towering Burundian, striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana but nothing materialized after three weeks of assessments. However, rumors have emerged again claiming that the Cup Kings have backtracked on their decision to let the Burundian go which signals a rather worrying sign of desperation. Before this article went to print Kickoff.com had already announced the arrival of the Burundian marksman who had previously termed Chiefs as unprofessional after hanging to dry with very little information on their decision.
