Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Mmamoloko Kubayi and Minister of Police Professor Firoz Cachalia led a community imbizo on 18 September 2025, in the King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality as part of a coordinated effort to combat crime through the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS).
What Happened
The ministers engaged directly with local residents under the JCPS Cluster, a government structure that brings together key departments involved in justice, law enforcement, and public safety.
The purpose of the imbizo was to strengthen community partnerships, address growing public concerns over violent crime, and improve communication between citizens and the state.
Official Response
Minister Kubayi and Minister Cachalia delivered a clear message condemning serious crimes such as gender-based violence, house break-ins, rape, and extortion by criminal networks.
They urged residents to speak out against crime instead of remaining silent, and to keep emergency contact numbers at hand to report incidents.
“When crime happens, people must not keep quiet. Report it immediately to law enforcement,” said Minister Kubayi.
Community Impact
Residents welcomed the outreach, saying it helps bridge the gap between government and communities. Many expressed hope that this initiative would lead to a reduction in crime and better response times from local police.
