The Joe Gqabi District Municipality’s Strategic and Governance Committee held a productive session this week to track progress on municipal strategic objectives and performance indicators. The meeting brought together key departments and agencies to review reports, evaluate progress, and plan follow-up actions.
What Happened
The session featured progress reports from the Local Economic Development (LED) Unit, Special Programmes Unit (SPU), Communications, Integrated Development Planning (IDP), and the Joe Gqabi Economic Development Agency (JoGEDA).
Committee members discussed challenges, identified areas for improvement, and agreed to conduct follow-up visits and oversight checks where needed.
“Our aim is to ensure every programme aligns with our strategic goals and delivers results for the people,” said a committee representative.
Official Response
The Office of the Municipal Manager, Planning and Development Directorate, JoGEDA, and Committee Councillors reaffirmed their joint commitment to transparency, collaboration, and service delivery excellence.
“We are serious about implementation and accountability,” a municipal official added. “Follow-through is key to building public confidence.”
The municipality said these governance sessions reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and ensure resources are effectively used.
