What happened
Small Business Development Minister Stella Tembisa Ndabeni announced the call for applications for the Cooperative Development Support Programme (CDSP).
According to the department, the grant fund is designed to help cooperatives grow and sustain their operations through targeted production support.
The programme will assist selected cooperatives with resources that can improve product quality and operational efficiency.
Funded support may include:
- Machinery and equipment
- Raw materials or production stock
- Commercial vehicles linked to cooperative operations
- ICT systems used in business activities
- Infrastructure such as irrigation systems and boreholes
The department notes that the programme does not support brick-and-mortar infrastructure projects.
Official response
The Department of Small Business Development says the programme is intended to help cooperatives strengthen their productive capacity and scale their businesses.
Application forms are available through SEDA (Small Enterprise Development Agency) platforms, including the official SEDA and DSBD websites.

Community impact
The programme could provide financial and operational support for cooperative businesses that need equipment, materials or technology to expand.
Cooperatives involved in agriculture, manufacturing, and other production activities may benefit if their operations meet programme requirements.
Support such as irrigation systems, vehicles linked to operations and production equipment may help improve productivity and job sustainability.
What happens next
Cooperatives interested in the programme must submit their applications before 20 March 2026.
The department states that applicants should consider their application unsuccessful if they have not received feedback within 60 days after the closing date.
