Ingquza Hill Municipality Opens Over 100 Coastal Job Opportunities Under EPWP Programme

The Ingquza Hill Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), has officially opened applications for 100 Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) positions under the Working for the Coast initiative. The jobs are targeted at residents from Ward 23 and Ward 25, covering areas including Mbotyi, Port Grosvenor, Msikaba, and Mkhambathi beaches.

The job categories include:

  • 94 General Workers (R3,080/month)
  • 4 Supervisors (R5,000/month)
  • 2 Admin Clerks (R5,000/month)

All positions are contracted for 6 months and aim to support environmental clean-up and coastal conservation while providing economic relief to local communities.

To qualify, applicants must meet the minimum education levels (Grade 6 for general workers, Grade 12 and supervisory experience for supervisors, and a diploma in Environmental Studies for admin roles). No prior experience is needed for general worker roles, but candidates must be able to read and write.

Key duties include waste collection along the coastline, removal of alien plant species, environmental reporting, community education, and assisting with administrative tasks tied to the programme.

    and must include a CV, Proof of Residence, and certified ID and qualification copies, clearly marked “Application for Employment.”
