EMALAHLENI – Ilungile Mvimbi, a 14-year-old from Bizana’s Zikhuba location, has made a name for herself by winning the Junior Title at the Miss and Mr. Radiance South Africa 2024 national pageant. Held at the Witbank Civic Theatre in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, on July 6, 2024, the event saw Mvimbi representing the Eastern Cape and emerging victorious.
Mvimbi, a student at Port Shepstone High School, attributes her success to her courage to take chances and believe in herself. “Seeing yourself in a different light starts by being brave enough to take chances in life and by believing you are worth every good thing that comes your way,” she said. Inspired by the glitz and glam she observed in her community and on social media, she felt encouraged to pursue modeling. “Seeing young girls just like me walking in heels, owning beautiful crowns and sashes, encouraged me to believe that I can do it too,” she added.
For Mvimbi, modeling is a platform for young girls to express themselves, showcase their personalities, and celebrate their individuality. She hopes to see a decrease in bullying among young girls and an increase in body confidence and positive self-image. Her victory as Junior Miss World Radiance South Africa 2024, competing against models from all nine provinces, is a testament to her fearless determination and belief in her abilities.
Now reigning as the Junior Queen of a national pageant, Mvimbi understands the responsibility that comes with her title. She aims to bring about change by providing mentorship and guidance, serving as a positive role model for young girls.
“I want to help bring change by proving mentorship and guidance and be a positive role model to young girls,” Mvimbi stated.
Ilungile Mvimbi’s journey and triumph at Miss and Mr. Radiance South Africa 2024 serve as an inspiring reminder of the power of self-belief and the impact of seizing opportunities.
