Ikhaya le-Mbizana is one of the orphanages the Wild Coast Sun visited accompanied by the Hon Mayor Mafumbatha and Mr Ronaldo Mayer on the 18th Easter Monday, to celebrate the spirit of Easter with the under privileged and physically challenged children.
Mr Bonginkosi Mxhaka who is a committee member of Ikhaya le-Mbizana said among the challenges the orphanage has they are pleading with the department of health to prioritize children with special needs and not make them stand in queues.
The Hon Mayor Mafumbatha said they are going to interact with other departments like the Department of health and the Department of Education and visit Ikhaya le-Mbizana, in order to forge a way forward on how to create a more convenient environment for the children.
Mr Ronaldo Mayer co- owner of Debonairs, Steers and Fisher-ways said, he brought pizza to the children so that they can be happy, even if some have never tasted pizza before they are going to experience the feeling like other kids. He added that they have heard the challenges of the orphanage they will assist where they can.

The G.M said the purpose of the wild coast is creating lasting memories not only to their clients but for their staff also and the community in which they are operate their business. They want to create lasting memories to the kids and give them and a different Easter. They also stand for changing lives regardless of how big or small the change is. He said as the wild Coast, they believe in sustainable change that continues to be impactful in the even in a long run.
Nomazwi Machi who is a social-worker at Ikhaya le-Mbizana said, she engages with the parents of the children and the children by offering on going counselling to both parties and also does medical appointment for those who require more special attention.
Pondoland Times spoke with one of the care givers Mam’uNgxolo, she that children with special needs easily catch infections which makes them more difficult to work with, they also struggle when it comes to laundry because they do not have washing machines.
