Mayor Patrick Stuurman led the second IDP Representative Forum on 18 November 2025 at the Maggie Tsiu-Resha Building. The session brought together government officials, ward representatives, and local stakeholders to refine development priorities for the 2026/27 financial year. The forum followed last month’s community outreach programme held from 20–22 October.
What Happened
The municipality convened the second IDP Representative Forum to strengthen planning for the next financial year. Mayor Stuurman stressed that the forum remains central to crafting realistic plans for budgeting, revenue collection, local economic development, and essential services. He noted that inputs from the October outreach sessions formed the basis of this week’s discussions, ensuring every ward’s concerns are captured before the draft IDP is finalised.
Official Response
Mayor Stuurman said the forum helps the municipality work closely with residents and partners. “The IDP is a shared roadmap. We gather here to improve service delivery and align our priorities with the needs raised by our communities,” he said.
Officials also confirmed that the session allows departments to monitor ongoing projects and adjust plans where necessary, especially in areas facing delays or resource gaps.
Community Impact
Stakeholders used the platform to show ward priorities and push for quicker responses to infrastructure backlogs. Community representatives welcomed the forum, saying it gives residents a direct voice on development planning. The municipality said it will use this round of inputs to refine its 2026/27 draft IDP before it moves to council processes.
