A female of 45 years of age who worked as a security official at the Hawks offices in Belville has been arrested for allegedly falsifying her matric certificate.
Hawks Spokesperson Zinzi Hani say Phelisa Lande applied for the job, that was advertised in October 2021 and allegedly submitted a fraudulent certificate. Lande was appointed on the 1st of April.
Hani says the Hawks noticed the suspicious certificate and a careful and critical examination was made with the Department of Education.
“It was during this process that the allegations of fraud were discovered and further investigation revealed that the accused submitted the same qualifications in her previous employment as a security officer”, said Hani.
She says Lande was arrested and released on bail for R1000 and will be back in court on the 6th of September for legal representation.
