Hawks Refute Claims of Investigating Justice Minister Thembi Simelane

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) has refuted claims circulating on social media that they are investigating Minister of Justice Thembi Simelane following a case reportedly filed by Action SA. The false information, initially shared by Khaya FM on Twitter, suggested that the Hawks had confirmed the investigation into Minister Simelane.

In an official statement, the Hawks expressed concern over the misleading post, emphasizing that it is not their policy to confirm whether an individual is under investigation. The organization stressed that doing so would compromise the integrity of ongoing investigations.

“To protect the integrity of our work, we cannot and will not confirm investigations into specific individuals until they have been brought before a court of law,” the statement clarified.
