Lieutenant General Maphaha, Surgeon of the South African National Defence Force, has finished a top checkup of the newly built Gqeberha Military Base Hospital. This facility represents an important dive forward in the SANDF’s commitment to upgrading military healthcare across the country.

During the inspection, Lieutenant General Maphaha explored the hospital, assessing its readiness ahead of official commissioning later this year. He emphasized the significance of the hospital in delivering integrated healthcare that meets the highest standards. “This establishment exemplifies our goal of providing comprehensive and responsive healthcare,” he remarked.

The Gqeberha Military Base Hospital is not just about infrastructure; it’s a resource for armed forces members, their families, and others eligible for care. It also enhances the nation’s capacity to respond to crises and emergencies effectively. As a new hub for specialized medical services in the Eastern Cape, this facility aims to reduce healthcare disparities and promote regional access to advanced medical care within the military community.

Addressing personnel from the Area Military Health Unit Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Maphaha praised their professionalism and dedication. “Our strength lies not only in advanced facilities but in the commitment of the people behind them. Together, we must protect this hospital and realize our shared vision, ‘Towards Military Health Excellence,’” he urged.
