residents of Shenxa in Ward 26 welcomed a major government service outreach program, bringing essential public services closer to the community. The initiative was led by the local municipality in partnership with various provincial departments and public entities, following community calls for improved access to government support and information.
What Happened?
On 12 November 2025, the outreach session was held in Shenxa and featured several government departments, including Health, Agriculture, SASSA, Social Development, ERS, Easy Pay, DEDEAT, and the Alfred Nzo District Municipality.
Each department used the opportunity to provide on-site services and educate residents about the programs and benefits available to them. The Department of Agriculture, through its Veterinary and Animal Health division, urged livestock owners to remain vigilant as livestock diseases affecting cattle continue to spread in some regions.
Official Response
Department representatives said the event aimed to make service delivery more inclusive and responsive.
“We want communities to know that government services are meant for them and should be easily accessible,” said one of the facilitators.
Officials also emphasized that bringing services directly to rural areas bridges the information gap and strengthens community-government relations.
Community Impact
Local residents expressed appreciation for the outreach, saying it saved them both time and travel costs. Many residents were able to register for social services, access health information, and consult officials about agricultural support and business opportunities.
Such sessions are part of a broader district strategy to ensure that no rural community is left behind in accessing public resources and assistance.
