The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) has announced new fuel price adjustments effective 5 November 2025, bringing relief to motorists and households across South Africa. The latest changes apply to petrol, diesel, illuminating paraffin, and LP Gas.
What Happened
From 5 November 2025, the price of petrol 93 and 95 dropped by 51 cents per litre.
Diesel 0.05% sulphur decreased by 21 cents, and diesel 0.005% sulphur by 19 cents per litre. Both the wholesale and retail prices of illuminating paraffin fell by 1 cent per litre. The maximum retail price of LP Gas went down by 61 cents per kilogram, and by 70 cents in the Western Cape. As a result, a litre of Petrol 95 now costs R21.12 in Gauteng and R20.29 at the coast.
Official Response
The DMPR said the adjustments were made following its monthly review process and took effect at all registered fuel stations nationwide. The department confirmed that the new prices would remain in place until the next review cycle.

The decrease is expected to provide some financial relief to motorists, transport operators, and households. The department encouraged consumers to use energy efficiently and remain mindful of possible future price fluctuations.
