FlySafair, one of South Africa’s leading low-cost airlines, has rolled out a major expansion to its domestic flight network just in time for the summer season. From 1 November 2025, the airline will introduce direct flights from Lanseria International Airport (Johannesburg) to two Eastern Cape destinations: Six weekly flights to King Phalo Airport in East London and daily services to Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport in Gqeberha.

These routes offer a convenient alternative to the long-standing reliance on OR Tambo Airport for access to the province. Tickets are already on sale, with fares starting from R770 one-way.

Additionally, beginning 2 October 2025, FlySafair will launch a Cape Town–Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport route, operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This new service enhances access to the heart of the Limpopo safari region, including Kruger National Park’s central reserves. Fares for this route start at R1,570.

FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kirby Gordon, emphasised the significance of these additions:

“We’re thrilled to be adding these new routes… previously only accessible via OR Tambo. The launch comes just in time for customers wishing to visit the region’s great beaches and other attractions or be with family over the upcoming summer holiday season.”

The expanded network reflects the airline’s commitment to affordable travel, improved regional connectivity, and timely service enhancements ahead of peak demand .
