A 59-year-old principal was killed at his home in Siphaqeni, Flagstaff on 19 November 2025. Police have now arrested three suspects, including his wife.
What Happened
The brutal murder took place just before 20:00 while the victim was with his family. A team of senior police officials, including the Flagstaff Station Commander and Crime Intelligence Unit, launched an intensive investigation immediately after the shooting.
After weeks of tracking leads, the team arrested a 35-year-old alleged hitman in the early hours of Tuesday, 09 December 2025, at Luqoqweni in Lusikisiki. He was found with a Silver Norincho 9mm pistol with an erased serial number and 14 live rounds of ammunition.
Shortly after, the operation moved to Flagstaff, where officers arrested a 40-year-old man believed to be the middleman, and the 52-year-old wife of the deceased principal.
Official Response
The OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, praised the team’s fast and thorough work:
“The detectives showed sharp investigation skills and ensured all suspects are brought to book,” he said.
He also commended the dedication of the officers on the ground.
The arrests followed close collaboration between detectives, crime intelligence, and public order policing units.
Community Impact
The incident has shocked the rural community of Siphaqeni and surrounding villages. Many locals described the late principal as a respected education leader.
