Eastern Cape police have arrested a 30-year-old man linked to the shocking murder of a 31-year-old woman in Malizole locality, Hombe A/A in Lusikisiki. The tragic incident occurred on February 14, 2025, sparking an urgent investigation that culminated in the suspect’s capture, with the help of an anonymous tip-off.

The investigation intensified following the suspect’s arrest in Ludiwana locality, Nkozo A/A – Flagstaff. Police not only apprehended him but also seized three unlicensed firearms: two pistols—a revolver and a 9mm pistol—both without serial numbers, and a serial-numbered 9mm pistol tied to a case in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town.

But that wasn’t all; the suspect also led officers to a stash of police uniforms, including field dress trousers, grey shirts, police belts, and caps. This discovery has raised further questions about the suspect’s activities and the potential involvement of others in the murder. Police are probing the origins of the uniforms and the full extent of the criminal operation.

The suspect is set to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate Court on February 17, facing serious charges, including murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property.

Major General Norman Modishana, the OR Tambo District Commissioner, praised the police for their relentless efforts to combat crime and ensure justice. “We will leave no stone unturned in our investigations to hold all parties accountable for this brutal crime,” he asserted, emphasizing the police’s commitment to protecting the community.
