Entries Now Open for 2025 Africa Teen Authors Book Initiative

Aspiring young writers across the continent have a unique opportunity to make their voices heard, as the 2025 Africa Teen Authors Book Initiative – International Writing Program officially opens for submissions.

With this year’s inspiring theme, “One Africa, Many Voices,” the initiative invites teenagers aged 13 to 19 from across Africa and the diaspora to submit short stories that reflect their diverse experiences, cultures, and perspectives. Submissions are accepted in both English and French.

Organisers have set a word limit of 1,500 words, and the deadline for entries is 30 April 2025.

In a major highlight, the top 25 stories will be published in the fifth edition of the African Teen Soul Anthologies, giving young authors the chance to be celebrated on an international literary stage.

“This is more than just a writing competition – it’s a movement to celebrate the rich, diverse, and powerful voices of African youth,” said the organisers.

Teens are encouraged to share their truth, creativity, and cultural pride through storytelling, which remains one of Africa’s most enduring traditions.
