On 19 October 2025, the Elundini Local Municipality hosted an IDP Consultation Outreach in Nqanqarhu. The meeting brought together residents from Wards 3, 4, 5, and 17. The purpose was to review community needs and discuss progress on local projects. The Joe Gqabi District Municipality and other sector departments also made presentations. They outlined completed work and shared plans for the next financial year.
What Happened
The consultation focused on reviewing the 2023/2024 municipal achievements and assessing ongoing and proposed projects for 2025/2026. Community members were updated on completed infrastructure projects and service delivery progress. They also discussed key issues such as water, sanitation, and road maintenance. The session formed part of Elundini’s annual IDP review, aimed at aligning development plans with community needs.
Official Response
Municipal representatives emphasised that the outreach forms a key part of participatory governance. “Our goal is to keep residents informed and involved in shaping development plans that impact their daily lives,” said an Elundini official.
The municipality also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and collaboration with the district and sector departments to deliver sustainable services across communities.
Community Impact
Residents welcomed the engagement, describing it as a platform that strengthens accountability and inclusivity. The outreach provided an opportunity for citizens to raise concerns directly with local leaders and ensure that future projects align with their priorities. The municipality is expected to consolidate feedback from all wards before finalizing the 2025/2026 IDP draft.
