Alfred Nzo District Municipality has warned residents about a suspected learnership scam involving a man bringing people to municipal offices.
The warning was issued after reports that an individual identified as Mr Mabola has been bringing groups of people to the Alfred Nzo District Municipality premises.
According to the municipality, the man claims he is helping applicants apply for an NSF learnership offered through the Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED).
Officials say the application deadline for that learnership has already passed and no new applications are being accepted.
What happened
The municipality says it became aware of an individual who is allegedly misleading members of the public about learnership opportunities.
According to the notice:
- The individual identified as Mr Mabola has been bringing groups of people to the municipal premises.
- He reportedly claims he can assist with applications for an NSF learnership programme.
- The programme was offered through the Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED).
However, the municipality says:
- The application deadline has already passed.
- No further applications are being accepted.
- The individual is not an employee of the municipality.
Officials warned that he may be attempting to scam residents.
