  • Contributions by TCC Staff and UKZN Stakeholders: TCC coordinators, victim assistant officers, and UKZN students, staff, and partners actively collaborated to ensure the event’s success in raising GBV awareness.
  • Objectives of the Event: The walk aimed to foster open conversations about GBV, promote awareness, and strengthen community efforts to prevent abuse.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s Sexual Offences and Community Affairs (SOCA) Unit representatives from the Edendale Thuthuzela Care Centre (TCC) took part in a gender-based violence awareness walk at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s (UKZN) Pietermaritzburg campus.

TCC Coordinator Yolokazi Mjoli, Victim Assistant Officer Ziyanda Lubambo, and Case Manager Advocate Makhosi Mthethwa joined UKZN students, staff, residence teams, and external partners to make the event a success.

The walk aimed to encourage open conversations about gender-based violence (GBV), promote awareness, and strengthen community efforts to prevent abuse. Participants distributed information on the TCC’s specialised services, which support survivors of sexual and domestic violence, and encouraged students to report any incidents.
