The Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE) has officially distanced itself from a media statement issued by suspended Communications Director, Ms. Mboxela, claiming her suspension had been lifted.
In its statement dated 3 November 2025, the Department confirmed that Ms. Mboxela remains under suspension following disciplinary proceedings related to her conduct and treatment of officials.
According to the Department, Ms. Mboxela’s actions including appearing at departmental premises and issuing a misleading media statement directly violated the conditions of her suspension.
Official Response
The Department described Ms. Mboxela’s behaviour as defiant and unacceptable, warning that her conduct undermines both the disciplinary process and the integrity of public service regulations.
“The Department will exercise its powers to decisively deal with the insolent behaviour demonstrated by Ms. Mboxela,” the statement read.
ECDoE further noted that the suspended official’s remarks misrepresented internal processes and defamed senior officials, including the Head of Department.
The Department confirmed that her suspension had been extended to 26 November 2025, following a ruling by the presiding officer on 24 October.
“The department wishes to categorically state that Ms. Mboxela is still on suspension pending investigation and conclusion of her case,” it added.
Community Impact
The Department stressed that disciplinary measures are being handled according to legislative frameworks governing public servants. Officials said this process is vital to maintaining transparency, accountability, and trust within government institutions.
