According to the Independent Examination Board (IEB), CEO Anne Oberholzer, three of the Eastern Cape’s leading private schools have released their 2022 matric results.
In a statement, the IEB say that 2021 candidates recieved a 98.3% pass rate. The 2022 matric pass rate is slightly higher with a 98.39% pass rate.
IEB CEO Anne Oberholzer congratulated the students for an outstanding performance in their results.
“The performance of the 2022 cohort of students has been outstanding. There is enough credible research on the impact of Covid-19 on the educational aspects of children to provide insight into where we are at in the coming out of the pandemic almost three years later.
“It is fair to say that this is the 2022 cohort of learners that were hardest hit by the impact of the pandemic when it broke in 2020 in their Grade 10 year”, said Oberholzer.
St Andrews College in Makhanda and Woodridge College in Gqeberha both achieved a 100% matric pass rate this year.
The Diocesan School for Girls in Makhanda is believed to have five matrics listed in the National Top 1% of candidates per subject in seven subjects.
Meanwhile, Umalusi, the Educational quality assurance body, has confirmed that the National Senior Certificate matric results for public schools will be released on Thursday, with pupils able to receive their marks at their schools on Friday.
