The Mount Road Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) has arrested a 28-year-old woman after a video circulated online showing a three-year-old boy being assaulted. The suspect was taken into custody on 25 November 2025 in Bethelsdorp, Eastern Cape.
What Happened
Police launched an investigation after the video spread rapidly across social media, prompting public concern.
Through enquiries and follow-up work, FCS detectives traced and arrested the suspect in Bethelsdorp on 25 November 2025.
According to police, the child involved has been identified and is receiving necessary support.
Official Response
The suspect will appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 27 November 2025, on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Police spokespersons confirmed that the investigation remains active.
“Additional charges could be added as the case progresses,” officials said.
