The Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury joined the official provincial launch of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children at Ntibaneni Village, eNgcobo on 25 November 2025. The program reaffirms the province’s commitment to fighting Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) while expanding access to government services. Treasury officials also rolled out community support offerings, including bursary information and supplier database assistance.
What Happened?
The provincial launch brought residents, officials, and community leaders together to highlight urgent action against GBVF. The event centred on empowering families, improving reporting, and strengthening community protection.
Treasury teams set up a Services on Wheels station, offering bursary guidance for Grade 12 learners, “Have I Been Paid?” queries, customer care assistance, and support with Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration.
“This campaign reminds us that every community must stand firm against violence,” an official said during the engagement.
Official Response
The Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury emphasized its commitment to the broader government effort to curb violence in homes and public spaces. Officials encouraged families to use available services, noting that access to information helps strengthen prevention and early intervention.
“We remain committed to supporting safer, more empowered communities,” Treasury representatives added.
Stressing that economic support, education opportunities, and service accessibility all contribute to long-term GBVF prevention.
Community Impact
The outreach aims to improve service access for rural households while amplifying safety awareness. With bursaries, supplier support, and payment verification services available on-site, many residents gained direct help without travelling to distant government offices.
Community members welcomed the initiative, saying localized support makes government programs more meaningful and accessible.
