On 03 December 2025, the Department showcased its services at the Feather Market Hall in Gqeberha. The exhibition supported the Provincial Commemoration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The event was hosted by Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane together with Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Councillor Babalwa Lobishe.
What Happened
The programme stressed government services available to persons with disabilities. Officials engaged directly with residents and advocacy groups. The exhibition aimed to improve access, strengthen awareness and promote stronger cooperation between the public and government departments.
This year’s theme was “Inclusive Governance in Action: Accountability Session on Disability Management.” The theme focused on stronger accountability, better reporting systems and improvements in disability support programmes across the province.
Why It Matters
The exhibition gave residents an opportunity to raise concerns and learn more about available services. Officials said the engagement would support improved disability management in municipalities. They also emphasised the need for inclusive governance, better resourcing and stronger institutional commitment.
