Eastern Cape Police Officers Triumph at National Excellence Awards

In a celebration of exceptional service and unwavering dedication, several members of the Eastern Cape Province Police Force have once again demonstrated their commitment to excellence by clinching top honors at the National Excellence Awards ceremony held on Friday, February 16, 2024, in Gauteng.

Led by Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Nomthetheleli Mene, the Eastern Cape contingent proudly showcased their outstanding achievements, highlighting the Province’s commitment to serving and protecting communities.

Among the standout winners were:

  • High Risk Team of the Year: Capt PL Franks – K9 Unit in Gqeberha
  • Medium Risk Team of the Year: W/O N Golozeleni, East London TRT
  • Detective and Forensic Team of the Year: Col NMB Mtshiyo – Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit
  • Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Member of the Year Level 5-7: Data Typist BJ De Klerk- DPCI
  • Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Member of the Year Level 8-12: Lt Col FC Smith – DPCI EC
  • Crime Intelligence member of the Year Level 5-7: W/O CJ Jacobs – Queenstown Crime Intelligence
  • Man of the Year: Sgt TE Kodwa from SAPS Indwe
  • Sportsperson with Disability: Capt AB Langa- HRD Commander at SAPS Mdantsane

Additionally, there were noteworthy 1st and 2nd Runners Up:

  • Medium Risk member of the Year Level 5-7: W/O E Gerber- Gqeberha K9 Unit
  • CPF of the Year: Ms Witbooi – Sarah Baartman District
  • Reservist of the Year: R/W/O FI Pitt – Queenstown K9
  • Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Member of the Year Level 5-7: Constable NE Nzimande
  • FCS Team of the Year: Capt NM Ngxazisa – East London FCS Unit

Lt Gen Mene extended her heartfelt congratulations to all the award recipients, emphasizing their exemplary performance and commitment to upholding the highest standards of law enforcement in the Province.
