People lined up for auditions held at the East London Museum on the 2nd of August 2022.

The Eastern Cape department of Sport, Recreation, and Arts and Culture MEC Fezeka Nkomonye, came out to support the budding talent of aspiring actors to audition for the three plays set to be produced in Eastern Cape. The project was entrusted to Jack and Gill productions with almost a R20 million budget for the three plays set to be a 100% iSixhosa content.

The auditions were a second of three-part auditions that were also held at Gqeberha and Mthatha for the plays that were set to start shooting at the beginning of 2023. Over 400 people attended the auditions at each station. The production company promised to use all resources from the province from transport, hospitality, and day-to-day distribution industries to boost the local economy.

The MEC briefed the media at Osner Hotel on the 21st of July. Acting CEO of ECPACC Mr. Monde Nkasawe added that Eight million rands had initially been set aside for the production budget, and 80% of the cast and crew members should be from the Eastern Cape province.
