The Eastern Cape celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship last night as Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane delivered a keynote address at the Bambelela Business Awards, proudly hosted by the Hollywood Foundation in East London.
The three-day event placed small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in the spotlight through workshops, exhibitions, and seminars, culminating in a glamorous Gala Dinner. The platform emphasized the resilience and innovation of local businesses while equipping them with knowledge and resources to grow.
In recognition of their efforts, R1 million in prizes was distributed among 20 dedicated businesses. The top winner received R130 000, while others benefitted from additional support such as branding services, spot prizes, and devices with data connectivity. These incentives were designed to strengthen local enterprises and ensure their continued contribution to the provincial economy.
Premier Mabuyane praised the achievements of the winners, noting that their determination is vital for shaping the economic future of the Eastern Cape. He emphasized the importance of supporting entrepreneurs who are building opportunities and creating jobs in their communities.
