DUT improved its global Webometrics ranking from 2,855 in 2024 to 1,816 in 2025 — a leap of 1,039 places.
This surge reflects DUT’s growing reputation in academic research, digital visibility, innovation, and real-world impact.
The rise follows another major milestone: DUT ranked 11th in the 2024 Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings.
Official Response
DUT attributes the achievement to its #ENVISION2030 strategy, which emphasises innovation, inclusion and transformation.
“This proves the global relevance of our work,” a university spokesperson said. “Our staff and students have embraced the vision.”
Community Impact
As DUT climbs the academic ladder, students from the Eastern Cape and across South Africa gain better global exposure and increased graduate value.
