The Sindiswa Elizabeth Foundation a registered NPO founded in 2016 by Mr Shusha in memory of his late mother has launched a “Donate a Uniform” campaign to support learners at Mjanyelwa Junior Secondary School in Dindini, Ward 32, Bizana. The drive is run in partnership with Pondoland Times and seeks to provide pupils who lack the basics needed to attend school with dignity.

Founded as a cancer awareness and survivor support initiative, the organization has since widened its work in response to social challenges in Bizana. Through its NPC wing, Nalithuba Development, the foundation that now assists unemployed youth, supports sport development, helps families facing poverty, and offers assistance to people navigating the justice system.

Many Mjanyelwa JSS learners arrive at school without proper uniform items due to difficult home circumstances.

“Some learners are orphans; some have parents who are unemployed and rely solely on social grants to put food on the table and pay debts. Others come from homes affected by alcohol abuse,” said Mr Shusha.

Items requested include school shoes, grey trousers/skirts, shirts and school jerseys. The campaign is designed to be ongoing, with the aim of assisting other needy learners in future.

The foundation appeals to community members and business owners to contribute new or gently used items. Monetary donations are not encouraged but can be arranged on request for those who prefer to give financially.

To pledge a donation or for collection arrangements, please contact the Sindiswa Elizabeth Foundation or the Pondoland Times newsroom. Every item helps a child learn with confidence.
