Deputy Minister of Social Development Ganief Hendricks visited Inanda on 8 December 2025 as part of SASSA’s Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP). The visit supports efforts to expand access to social grant services in remote and underserved communities.
The Deputy Minister began the programme at the ILungelo Labadala Centre in Amaoti, where he engaged with SASSA teams assisting older persons and vulnerable residents.
Bringing Social Services Closer to Communities
ICROP is one of SASSA’s key outreach initiatives. It focuses on communities that struggle to reach government offices due to distance, cost or mobility challenges. Officials said the programme aims to ensure that no eligible person is left behind.
During the visit, teams assisted residents with grant applications, document updates, enquiries and social assistance support.
Engagement at Amaoti Community Hall
After the initial briefing, the Deputy Minister moved to the Amaoti Community Hall, where SASSA continued its community service drive. Residents received help with new registrations and guidance on existing grants.
Officials added that outreach events like this strengthen SASSA’s ability to respond directly to community needs.
Support for Persons with Disabilities
The Deputy Minister also visited the Zethembe Disability Centre in Inanda. He met with persons with disabilities, observed specialised support services and spoke to teams providing assistive interventions.
