Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Nomusa Dube-Ncube, will on 5 September 2025 lead the sod-turning ceremony for a R80 million Agricultural Retail Hub at Ingwe TVET College in the Eastern Cape.
The project, fully funded by the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education Training Authority (W&RSETA), is aimed at boosting skills training and creating jobs in the province. Located in Ntabankulu Local Municipality, the hub is already under construction and has reached 25% completion, with R20 million spent to date.
The Agricultural Hub will specialise in cannabis production and processing, tapping into the fast-growing medicinal and retail markets. In addition, the facility will house a modern Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) laboratory to equip TVET learners with digital skills needed in today’s economy.
W&RSETA has a strong track record of supporting skills development. Over the past five years, the authority has invested more than R70 million in ICT facilities at TVET colleges nationwide. It has also allocated R71 million towards solar power to protect 11 colleges from loadshedding disruptions, and R146 million for a new skills development centre at Sekhukhune TVET College, opened in May 2024.
Deputy Minister Dube-Ncube will be joined at the 5 September ceremony by W&RSETA executives, education stakeholders, and local leaders at Ingwe TVET College, Ntabankulu MPCC, to celebrate this milestone investment.
