The media personality with many skills in the media industry including hosting the show, Daily Thetha, Pearl Shongwe (35) dies at her apartment in Midrand.

The cause of death has not been declared yet as the police still swamped the scene on the afternoon of Tuesday 8th of November 2022. This happened at Polofield, Waterfall in Midrand

A policeman from the Midrand police station has confirmed that murder has been ruled out, prior to the investigations held.

The Estate management where Ms Shongwe lived issued out a statement to the rest of the residents after discovering the body.

“Dear residents. We regret to inform you that one of our residents has passed away inside her Unit. The family of the resident has been notified and is at the Polofield presently. You may notice police, ambulence, coroner vehicles in the Estate during the day. Please do not be alarmed as they are attending to the situation. Currently there is no reason for concern, kind regards, Estate management”.

According to the information on her management’s website, Ms Shongwe made her career debute in 2010 with YFM alongside Mo Flava as an entertainment reporter.

She later joined SABC sport as a reporter and a voice artist. She then went on to present news and current affairs on SABC.

Many will remember her appearance on Morning Live and her voice on Metro FM as a newsreader.

Khehla Tshababalala, a family spokesperson said, “It is with great sadness that the Shongwe family anounces the untimely passing of our beloved daughter, Ntombifuthi Pearl Shongwe. She passed away in her sleep.”

“We kindly request that we are given privacy to mourn her passing during this trying time.. Our daughter was a celebrated radio broadcaster and TV presenter. Her presence will forever live in our hearts.” Concluded Tshabalala.
