The Eastern Cape Department of Community Safety celebrated outstanding Community Police Forum (CPF) members at St Albans Prison Hall in Gqeberha on 28 November 2025. The event honoured volunteers who support SAPS and help strengthen safety in neighbourhoods across the province.
Leaders Praise CPF Members
Energy filled the hall as leaders thanked CPF members for their dedication. Councillor Siyasanga Sijadu, from the Mayoral Executive Council, said CPF volunteers remain the backbone of crime prevention.
“Every act of service, big or small, helps build safer communities,” she said.
Acting HOD Mrs Nonkqebela Mlenzana applauded CPF structures for their discipline and commitment.
Nelson Mandela District Commissioner, Major-General Vuyisile Ncatha, encouraged members to continue working with SAPS to protect residents.
Awards Celebrate Local Impact
Award recipients were honoured for leadership, community mobilisation, and strong crime-fighting initiatives.
Their work includes neighbourhood patrols, quick reporting, youth support programmes, and helping SAPS respond faster to community threats.
In addition, officials said the recognition reaffirms the Department’s commitment to strengthening CPF structures and empowering communities across the Nelson Mandela District.
Community Impact
Residents who attended said the ceremony brought hope during a time of rising crime concerns.
As a result, the celebration strengthened trust between communities and law-enforcement partners.
