The Compensation Fund has opened nationwide applications for presiding officers to oversee COIDA objection hearings, with entries closing in January 2026.
What Happened
The Compensation Fund, operating under the Department of Employment and Labour, has called on experienced legal professionals to apply as Presiding Officers for COIDA Services.
Applicants must hold a BProc or LLB degree and admission as an attorney or advocate. In addition, candidates need at least five years of legal practice and must remain in good standing with the Legal Practice Council. Medico-legal experience will strengthen an application.
Presiding officers will chair objection hearings under sections 56 and 91 of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act. However, the Fund confirmed that these roles are not permanent. Appointments depend on case availability and run for a fixed five-year term.
Applicants must submit a CV, certified qualifications, and a certified ID copy by email. The closing date is 30 January 2026.
