On 30 July 2025, community members from Mgwede and Bhekela villages gathered to participate in development meetings focused on the N2 Wild Coast Road project. The sessions were hosted by SANRAL in partnership with the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality, the Department of Public Works, and local village committees.

The N2 Wild Coast project is a major infrastructure initiative aimed at improving transport networks across the region. Its goals include strengthening connections between rural communities, stimulating local economic development, and creating much-needed job opportunities.

Leading the day’s engagement was Ward Councillor Cengimbo, who emphasised the importance of keeping communities informed and involved in projects that affect their daily lives. The meetings provided detailed updates on the project’s construction timeline, plans for community involvement, compensation processes, and how local concerns will be addressed in a transparent and respectful manner.

Community members were given the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and contribute suggestions. Many expressed appreciations for the platform to engage directly with officials and welcomed the potential benefits of improved road access.
