A taxi boss was on Thursday, 24 October 2024 fatally wounded at his homestead at Mqanduli, 35km outside Mthatha, in the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality.
It is reported that two armed men allegedly fired multiple shots through the window of the victim’s home, striking the elderly man, aged 70. Reports indicate that the assailants then forced their way into the house and continued their horrific assault. Sadly, the victim was declared dead at the scene, leaving family and friends devastated by the sudden violence.
The police have initiated a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to the community for assistance. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has urged anyone who may have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward. Residents described the victim as a kind and respected figure who played an important role in their lives. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli has assured the community that the police will work hard in ensuring that the perpetrators are bought to justice.
