The Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO) has appointed Lerato Matsoso as General Manager Operations, effective 1 July 2025. She will oversee all organisational operations, reporting directly to CEO Jotam Matariro.
Matsoso, who joined CAPASSO in 2021 as Stakeholder Relations Manager and was promoted to Head of Stakeholder Relations in 2023, is widely respected in the cultural, creative, and media sectors. A former Entertainment Editor for two national publications, she has been instrumental in expanding CAPASSO’s membership from 7,000 to 12,000 members.
CEO Matariro said her expertise in musical works documentation, royalty distribution, and stakeholder engagement makes her the ideal choice to lead operations.
“Her contributions have been invaluable, and we are confident she will guide CAPASSO to even greater success,” he said.
In her new role, Matsoso will manage day-to-day operations, focusing on licensing, royalty distribution efficiency, and organisational growth. CAPASSO will also prioritise strengthening the local music ecosystem, building global partnerships with streaming platforms and rights holders, and collaborating with government on legislative reform.
