A 24-year-old man accused of murdering a 17-year-old girl he was dating appeared in court on Tuesday, 7 February 2023, in Flagstaff.  According to the report, this incident happened in the Thonti village under this town and it is alleged that the man brutally murdered the girl and buried her in the kraal. The report alleges that the dog was seen eating a body part, and a trail was followed.

Residents were fuming outside Flagstaff Magistrates court, calling for no bail.

One angry resident, who preferred to be anonymous said, “We are very angry and in disbelief on how a young girl can be killed in such a manner. Killing is another thing but burying her in a cattle’s kraal so her family will not locate her body shows how cruel this man is.

He added that this man is not supposed to be amongst the community as he is a threat to the public.

We demand that he is granted no bail and if we ever see him we will see what to do with him.

Eastern Cape’s NPA spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali confirmed the appearance of a man. He further called on the public to refrain from taking law into their hands.

“The NPA would like to condemn even the thoughts of the community to take the law into their hands as that will lead to the law taking its course”.
