Comrades of the African National Congress in Bizana under the Winnie Madikizzela Mandela Municipality held an induction for its members, on Sunday 16 July 2023. The induction includes Subregional leadership that leads 32 Branches. These alliance parties include SACP, COSATU, ANC women league and the ANC youth league.
In conversation with Pondoland Times, Bizana’s ANC sub regional chairperson, comrade Moya explained the intentions of the induction and said;
“our intention for this induction is to make sure that we are well capacitated for the positions we hold in our respective branches. We want to insure that comrades put aside their differences and lead fairly and equally and are able to give a political direction. Especially now that we headed to elections, this time will be very difficult. We must all go there united speaking in one voice putting aside our differences that are usually there when we go to conferences. It is a nature of politics because it’s a contested terrain and ANC allows that there must be contestation so that a democratic process gives the outcome.” Says comrade Moya sub regional chairperson of Winnie Madikizela Mandela municipality.
Given the recent political killings in KwaZulu Natal a few people have become hesitant to attending political rallies and conferences because they fear for their lives. Comrade Moya assures the community to not be afraid because they have confidence in their leaders.
“People must not be afraid because the ANC has got leadership, we take instruction from the national executive committee, and we have provincial executive committee and national executive committee so all those structures are able to guide us. We have confidence in our leaders, leaders that are rooted in our communities because that’s what’s important. We must have leaders that are rooted in our communities so that we are able to identify what could be threats that therewith in our communities, what the differences are so that we are proactive in our actions. So that we can identify and rectify the differences amongst our comrades so that our differences do not lead to us to the pain we see in KZN during election season. That is something we condemn.” Says Moya.
When speaking about the recent provincial conference of the African National Congress Youth League Moyo stressed on the importance of young people within the ANC and said that the ANC youth league has key role it needs to play in building the ANC. He says the ANCYL is tasked with a responsibility of mobilizing all the young people in the country under the banner of the ANC. He added that as the Alfred Ndzo region they are well represented as they have their own sub region members in the provincial leadership of the ANCYL.
“We really appreciate our members within the provincial region and we have confidence in those comrades. It’s a school of leaning for our young comrades so they will learn a lot. We have deputy chairperson of the province Comrade Yanga Bonga who comes from this region under Mzimvubu sub region remember we are one.” Moya said
Moya is not only the sub regional chairperson of Winnie Madikizela Mandela which is under Alfred Ndzo but is also the elections coordinator in the structure of elections in the sub region of Winnie Madikizela Mandela. Concerning the upcoming elections Moyo had this to say “The ANC has a track record of doing positive things because you would think what we do as people especially the opposition because discouraging people is their job but the reality is that as people and voters we see the good that the ANC has done. We might not be satisfied by the pace. Us too as members of the ANC we get moments o/f not being satisfied by how some municipalities are doing, the pace makes us complain but we appreciate because we have ANC deployees in municipalities implementing programs of the ANC. So we would like people to give ANC a chance to continue with the programs of the African National Congress. Voters must continue giving ANC a chance of ensuring a better life for all, I know some people will feel differently and it is their right to feel so.
Moya concluded by saying the ANC must extend an apology to the people where we have done wrong or where they have not done well. He says it not the ANC that did not do well but deployees of the ANC who translate to ANC. Moya has discouraged members of the ANC from becoming too big for their shoes once they are put in positions of leadership. He acknowledges that the voters have the right to critique the ANC but expects constructive criticism and hopes that the ANC leaders will have a sharp ear to the challenges of its people.
