Dumi Mqongana, a young footballer from Bizana, has made his hometown proud after winning the Playmaker of the Year Award at a league ceremony for higher-education institutions in Cape Town for the 2024/25 season. The award recognizes his outstanding ability to create scoring opportunities and lead his team with vision and precision throughout the season.
“It feels like a dream come true,” he said. “No one expected a young man from a small town like Bizana to win in Cape Town. I’m truly grateful and happy for this moment.”
He added that he first shared the news with his father, followed by his coaches and close friends. Through hard work and dedication, he is rising to the top bit by bit.

Reflecting on his success, the midfielder credited discipline, teamwork, and consistency for his performance. Dumi gave credit to his teammates who turned his passes into goals.He emphasized the importance of quick decision-making and awareness on the field.
Despite balancing academics and sports, he remains focused. The young once played Jomo Cosmos youth team in the year 2021. Young but brave to achieved his goal to become one the recognized footballers in South Africa.

His achievement has inspired young players back home in Bizana and he is proud to put his home in the map.
“To the young players watching—keep believing in yourself. Hard work and consistency always pay off,” he said.
He also shared his long-term goals: to join a professional or amateur club and represent South Africa one day. The player also thanked his family, coaches, and friends for their support.
