Football fans in Bizana have reason to celebrate following a triumphant weekend that saw two of their local favourites claim significant victories.
Bizana Pondo City FC (BPC) has finally secured promotion to the ABC Motsepe League, following two previous unsuccessful attempts. The breakthrough came during the provincial play-offs held at Rhodes University in Grahamstown over the weekend of 21–22 June 2025, where BPC thrashed Dr’s Unlimited FC with an emphatic 5–0 win.
BPC joins The Citizens, Maru FC, Old Grey FC, and Fast Eleven FC in earning promotion to the provincial league after an intense and competitive series of matches.
Adding to the weekend excitement, the long-delayed decider between Amavarara FC and FC Ravens was finally played immediately after the play-offs. The Scarios (Ravens) dominated the match, defeating Amavarara 4–0 to be crowned Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe Champions.
However, the Ravens vs Amavarara match was played under protest, following a court order by Judge Bloem of the Grahamstown High Court. The match outcome remains provisional, pending the finalisation of a legal application by Sinenkani FC.
A review hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, 26 June, and the final result will only be confirmed following that legal process.
