A horrifying discovery in Kwapisi Location has sent shockwaves through the rural village after the decomposed remains of Sinethemba Mpontshani (29) were found on the morning of Thursday, 22 May 2025, following his mysterious disappearance five days earlier.
According to residents, Sinethemba was last seen on Saturday, 17 May 2025, during a local party. He was reportedly called outside by another man from the area — and never returned. That was the last time anyone saw him alive.
Days later, his remains were stumbled upon in the most gruesome way. Villagers became alarmed when they noticed local dogs chewing what appeared to be human bones in a nearby veld. Upon investigation, they discovered the mutilated and decomposing body, believed to be Sinethemba’s.
We knew he was missing, and when we saw dogs tearing at bones, we went closer. It was a terrible sight — we couldn’t believe it,” said one community member who asked to remain anonymous.
Accusations and Anger Toward Police
Community outrage has since escalated, with many blaming Mpisi Police Station for alleged inaction. Residents say police refused to arrest the man who last called Sinethemba out during the party, citing lack of evidence.
“How can there be no evidence when he was the last person to be seen with him?” a close family member asked angrily. “He must know something. Even if he didn’t do it, he could help us understand what happened.”
With Sinethemba now dead, many fear the case will go cold unless someone steps forward with information. “Who will bring the evidence now?” cried one mourner. “His voice is gone. Is that the end?”
A Life Cut Short
Loved ones described Sinethemba as a young man just beginning to get his life together, searching for work and trying to help uplift his family. His untimely and violent death has devastated those who knew him.
May his soul rest in peace, and may God shine on him with a light that never dims, said a local elder during a prayer gathering.
