Sasol Banyana Banyana will travel to Morocco for an international friendly on 2 December 2025, a key fixture as the team prepares for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The match will take place in Morocco at a venue still to be confirmed. Coach Dr Desiree Ellis announced her squad on 22 November 2025.
What Happened?
Banyana secured the friendly shortly after qualifying for the 2026 WAFCON. They booked their ticket with a 1–0 win over DR Congo at Dobsonville Stadium, sealing a 2–1 aggregate victory. The decisive moment came from star forward Thembi Kgatlana, whose late strike secured their passage.
The squad assembled in Johannesburg on 24 November 2025 and will fly out to Morocco on 28 November 2025 to begin final preparations.

Official Response
Coach Ellis says the friendly is essential for shaping her tournament squad.
“We need to test ourselves against strong WAFCON opponents early. Morocco will give us that challenge,” she said.
SAFA officials also confirmed that the match forms part of an extended build-up program for the March–April 2026 tournament.
