The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the grant payment dates for April 2025, along with details of the annual increases. Beneficiaries should take note of the following schedule to ensure timely collection of their funds:
Payment Dates:
- Older Persons Grant: Wednesday, 2 April 2025
- Disability Grant: Thursday, 3 April 2025
- Children’s Grants: Friday, 4 April 2025
These adjustments accommodate operational considerations, as payments typically occur between the 3rd and 5th of each month.
Grant Increases Effective April 2025:
- Old Age (60-74 years) and Disability Grants: Increase by R130 to R2,315
- Old Age (75+ years) Grant: Increase by R135 to R2,335
- War Veterans Grant: Increase by R130 to R2,315
- Care Dependency Grant: Increase by R130 to R2,315
- Child Support Grant: Increase by R30 to R560
- Foster Care Grant: Increase by R70 to R1,250
These adjustments, announced by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, aim to assist beneficiaries in coping with the rising cost of living.
Important Notice for SASSA Gold Card Holders:
Beneficiaries using SASSA gold cards were required to transition to the new Postbank black card by 20 March 2025. Those who missed this deadline may face restrictions, including inability to perform transactions or access funds. However, grants can still be collected from the South African Post Office and certain retailers. Postbank will continue card replacements until the end of June 2025.
