ANC’s Lizeka Maqoga urges the local community of ward 13 to register to vote

Date:

On Sunday, 12 September 2021 we spoke to the secretary of the African National Congress in Ward 13, CDR Lizeka Maqoga who with her colleagues from the ANC was on a campaign to encourage the community to go and register to vote on the upcoming local government elections to be held on the 1st of November.

Registrations will be on the 18 and 19th of September 2021. Maqoga says “it is important that the youth who have recently reached the voting age must go and register to vote”. Other people who are encouraged to register to vote are those who have relocated and the elderly who qualify for special votes.

Maqoga added that she would like to encourage the youth to go and register to vote for the African National Congress (ANC) so that the youth will be able to impact change in their communities through the ANC.

“The ANC would like to help with issues such as lack of water in Ward 13, address the issue of unemployment and lack of proper roads.” – says Maqoga

In regards to recent politically motivated murders in the region, Maqoga says the ANC does not support the killing of its members by anyone and some of these cases are in the courts of law. She adds that it is with great regret that we’ve seen such gruesome things happen in our wards.

“Today, we are here to encourage people to register to vote, encourage ANC volunteers to assist with special voting and lastly to introduce candidate Nozipho Majova” – says Maqoga

Speaking to the community of Nonkqubela (ward 13), recently elected ward councillor said the ANC meeting held on 6 June 2021 decided that the wards must choose who becomes a ward councilor without the ANC choosing a councillor for the communities. Ward councillors are the face of the people as we go to election, she added.
