The African National Congress (ANC) in the Joe Gqabi region today convened its first Regional Executive Committee (REC) meeting since new leaders were elected at the 5th Regional Conference held last month in Barkley East.

The inaugural sitting is expected to focus on key decisions, including the appointment of the Regional Working Committee (RWC). The RWC will serve as the engine of the REC, tasked with driving day-to-day political and organizational work across the region.

In addition, the meeting will finalise the deployment of REC members to various subcommittees and subregions. These appointments are aimed at strengthening the ANC’s structures on the ground and ensuring that the resolutions of the conference are implemented effectively.

The gathering marks the start of a new chapter for the ANC in the Joe Gqabi region as it seeks to consolidate unity, improve coordination, and sharpen its programme of action.
