The African National Congress (ANC) has joined South Africans and the global community in celebrating the birthday of Dr Esther Mahlangu, a pioneering Ndebele artist whose work has become a global symbol of African identity and cultural pride.

“The ANC salutes Dr Mahlangu for her lifelong contribution to the preservation and global recognition of South Africa’s indigenous knowledge systems,” the statement read.
The party added that her work affirms the organisation’s belief in culture as a tool for liberation, unity, and social cohesion, echoing the Freedom Charter’s vision that “the doors of learning and culture shall be opened.”
