The Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, have officially announced the signing of 28-year-old central defender Inaci Miguel from the Angolan outfit Petro de Luanda on a three-year deal.
The Portuguese-born defender joins Amakhosi as the fifth signing under the new head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, in this winter transfer window, ahead of the highly anticipated 2024–25 Betway Premiership season.
Other new signings include the Rwandan international Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam, and Gaston Sirino.
Miguel arrived in South Africa on Tuesday to undergo medicals at Naturena and sign a three-year contract.
“Kaizer Chiefs have secured the services of Angolan international, Inacio Miguel Ferreira dos Santos from Petro de Luanda, one of the biggest Clubs in his homeland.
“The 28-year-old centre-back, who is simply known as Inacio Miguel in football, arrived in South Africa on Tuesday afternoon to undergo his medical before signing a three-year deal with Amakhosi,” Kaizer Chiefs statement revealed.
Miguel signed for Petro de Luanda from the Latvian higher league side, FK Liepaja, in January 2023. Last season, he featured in 23 games for Petro de Luanda in all competitions, netting three goals.
Amakhosi are working to strengthen their defensive and attacking lines for the upcoming season, following a poor season in which the club conceded 30 goals and scored only 25.
Many reports indicate that the Glamour Boys are still working to bolster their back line with the addition of a left back following the injury to their new signing, Bongani Sam.
However, recent reports have emerged stating that Amakhosi’s bids for the highly rated left backs in the premiership Fawaz Basedien and Riaan Hanamub were rejected by Stellenbosch and Amazulu.
Kaizer Chiefs will kick off their 2024/25 Betway Premiership season away from home, when they come to grips with Marumo Gallants at Free State Stadium on September 14, 2024, at 17:30.
