On September 18, 2025, the Alfred Nzo District Municipality hosted a vibrant Heritage Day celebration for its staff and councillors. The event took place at the ANDM Conference Centre in eMaXesibeni, bringing together municipal employees to reflect on the cultural wealth of the district.
What Happened
The municipality commemorated Heritage Month by organizing an internal cultural event for councillors and employees. The program began at 09:00 and featured traditional attire, performances, and opportunities for staff to engage with one another outside their formal roles.

The event aimed to showcase the cultural diversity within the Alfred Nzo region, which is home to ethnic communities such as the Basotho, AmaMpondo, amaHlubi, aMaXesibe, and AmaBhaca.
The celebration also promoted unity in the workplace, providing an inclusive platform to honour and reflect on shared values rooted in culture and history.
Official Response
Municipal leadership emphasized the significance of embracing heritage throughout Heritage Month, not just on the national public holiday.
According to internal messaging from the municipality, the commemoration was part of a broader strategy to strengthen social cohesion among municipal staff and to emphasize the role of cultural respect in public service delivery.
Community Impact
Although the event was internal, the municipality believes such initiatives contribute to improved public interaction. By fostering cultural understanding and unity among staff, the Alfred Nzo District Municipality aims to enhance teamwork and better serve its diverse rural communities.
The celebration sent a strong message about the role of heritage in shaping ethical governance and responsive administration.
